Elastic APM: Touchless to Tracing

Details

Many organizations are making use of the Elastic Stack for operational analytics. A comprehensive single pane of glass is critical to keeping an eye on the health of a company’s technological assets. Elastic has enhanced this capability by providing an Application Performance Monitoring solution (APM) which enables operations teams to collect metrics and insights. Moreover, it gives developers a first pass at measuring their applications beyond the IDE.

As a follow up to our presentation last year, the team from Elastic would like to update the Tampa JUG on Elastic APM and a number of other new solutions included in the stack.

In this session, we will cover a simple example Java program in three contexts: touchless APM, custom spans and traces, and distributed tracing.

AJ Pahl is a Principal Solutions Architect at Elastic. He has over 20 years of IT experience in large scale distributed systems management and application development for both Financial Services and Automotive manufacturing verticals.
