We are going to walk through the set up of a simple Cassandra database in this session.

*** Cassandra runs on Linux ***

If you don't have a Linux environment, we'll set one up together on (a) Amazon, (b) Google, or (c) Azure... or maybe we'll do all three. Basically, if we can get you to a Linux OS prompt with "sudo" privileges somewhere, you are good to go.

Once you know how to install Cassandra, you will have an experimental "sandbox" to use for the following session, when we will explore CQL. CQL is the "Cassandra Query Language", aka the NoSQL equivalent of relational database SQL.
