What we’re about
This is a group for anyone interested in learning traditional Chinese body practices and meditations. Beginners welcome.
Qigong is Chinese yoga and meditation that involves gentle ways of moving and caring for the mind and body. It involves exercises drawn from Daoism, Buddhism, traditional Chinese health practices, and Asian martial arts traditions.
Classes and workshops are led by Steve Geisz, Ph.D.
Steve is a graduate of the multi-year qigong-teacher-training program of Ken Cohen, a Certified Full Instructor in the Universal Healing Tao qigong system of Mantak Chia, and a 500-hour registered yoga teacher (RYT 500) who trained at the Kripalu Center in Massachusetts and the Lotus Pond Center for Yoga & Health in Tampa.

WHAT IS THIS STUFF?
Qigong is Chinese yoga and meditation. It incorporates ideas of the body, mind, health, and cosmos from Daoism, Chinese Buddhism, traditional Chinese medicine, and internal martial arts.
In this free weekly class, we begin with simple warm-up exercises and then do various moving qigong forms to stretch and condition the body.
Here is a sample from one of the previous sessions: https://rotten-wood-can-be-carved.heymarvelous.com/product/61683/free-media/614994
You do not need a yoga mat or a meditation cushion for this class: the practices can be done while standing (or, sometimes, walking around) in the space of your living room.
Feel free to have your camera on or off--whichever way makes you feel most comfortable.
This class is appropriate for beginners and for people with more experience in qigong and related practices. Practices can be modified to accommodate many different abilities and ranges of movement.
This class meets on Zoom on Wednesday evenings 6:30 to 7:15 PM Eastern Time.
This class is led by Steve Geisz, Ph.D. (that's me). I am a graduate of the multi-year qigong-teacher-training program of Ken Cohen, a Certified Full Instructor in the Universal Tao/Healing Tao qigong system of Mantak Chia, and a 500-hour registered yoga teacher (RYT 500).

- Sunday Morning Qigong at Rivercrest Park [In-Person Class]Rivercrest Park, Tampa, FL
BASIC DETAILS:
In-person qigong (i.e., Chinese-style yoga-like exercises) at Rivercrest Park in Tampa on Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m.
This event is FREE. (If you want to express gratitude for the teachings, please consider signing up for the online classes I offer through RottenWoodQigong.com.)
The plan is to meet beneath the biggest oak tree in the park (which is next to the green-roofed, octagon-shaped pavilion/pagoda structure). If there are other people there using that space, we will find another place in the park to practice--just look for me. (I'll be wearing a baseball cap with a smiley face on it.)
Please try to arrive a few minutes early to sign the special waiver form for this event.
Please note we will be outside. (If the weather looks bad, please check here for info on whether or not it is cancelled.)
Please also note that there are no restrooms at Rivercrest Park.
