Please Join us Tuesday April 16, 2019 for networking and training! This month's session is a remote presentation from Russia!
Topic: Intelligent Query Processing in SQL Server 2019
Who: Dmitry Pilugin (http://www.queryprocessor.com/)
Dmitry Pilugin, is a SQL Server DB developer from Russia, Moscow. He works with SQL Server for more than ten years. Currently he works as a database developer lead, responsible for the development of production databases in the media research company.
Dmitry holds a blog about SQL Server query processing: QueryProcessor.com, where he writes about a query optimization and execution, and also likes to share his knowledge about it speaking at various community events and tech conferences. Data Platform Microsoft MVP since 2014.
Performance is one of the most important parts of a healthy database system, but sometimes a query performance may suffer, for a variety of reasons. In one case we may find a reason and fix it easily, while in the other case, it is much harder.
SQL Server 2017 introduced a new approach for solving performance problems called Adaptive Query Processing. SQL Server 2019 evolves those mechanisms and the entire feature family now is named – Intelligent Query Processing.
The Intelligent query processing in SQL Server 2019 includes the following:
- Adaptive Query Processing enhancements
- Table Variable Deferred Compilation
- Approximate Query Processing
- Scalar UDF Inlining
In this session we will see how do these features work and in what cases they might be helpful.
Our meetings start at 6:00p.m. for food and networking. About 6:30p.m. we kick off with announcements and then start the presentation, usually about 6:45p.m.
