Thomas Phaneuf Presents Making the SQL Server Metadata Useful and Fun!

Details

What is the SQL Server Metadata?
It is the data about the objects in the SQL Server database. It allows you to ask questions about how your data is structured, and pretty much everything you ever wanted to know about not just your tables, views, functions and procedures – but other supporting information as well!

Why a Metadata Sub-System?
The SQL Server metadata can be difficult and awkward to work with directly. This meetings talk will present a framework to wrap the power of the Metadata system in a set of easy to use, intuitive and consistent objects.

So, what will we be talking about?
We will be taking a trip through the SQL Server Metadata and presenting an extendable collection of views, procedures and functions to make using that SQL Server Metadata not just less painful to use, but fun!

The objects in this collection are incredibly useful for a variety of tasks such as ETL, dynamic scripting, and writing your own procedures, functions and views. By the end of this talk, you will wonder how you ever managed to work without it.

So, bring your popcorn and your interest and settle in!

Food will be provided - so bring your appetite for food and learning.
