The Key Lessons of Seneca's "Letters from a Stoic”

Details
This is the monthly meeting of Tampa Stoics (Second Fridays). We are meeting online.
“Letters from a Stoic” is one of the classic Stoic texts that has survived almost 2,000 years of history. The book was written by Seneca (4 BC – 65 AD), probably in the last few years of his life. It was originally called “Epistulae Morales ad Lucilium”, which is Latin for "Moral Letters to Lucilius". In this meeting, we’ll rediscover why Seneca’s wisdom makes Stoicism accessible to the public. We will read bits of Ryan Holiday’s article, called The Key Lessons from Seneca’s ‘Letter from a Stoic’, which describes how we can develop a strong inner self, live in the present, and recognize the value of friendship.
Reading Material
As usual, I'll prepare an outline of discussion points for the meeting, so you don't need to read in advance.

In general, Stoicism teaches us how to handle difficult people and events, how to avoid anger and worry, and overall to use moderation in all aspects of our lives. We will discuss how Stoic practice can lead to a meaningful and fulfilling life.
Our group enjoys open-minded, respectful conversations on Stoicism and how it relates to science, culture, philosophy, other belief systems, and pop culture (books and movies). If we differ in our opinions, then "we agree to disagree". The long-term goal is to improve our minds via group discussions. Our group does NOT discuss religion or politics.
This event is free and open to the public.
