In this workshop, we’ll chat about deep—or immersive—point of view in fiction and creative nonfiction, why it tends to be preferred by readers in most genres, how to know if you’re accomplishing it, and how to go deeper if you’re not. We’ll also talk about the relationship between character, voice, and viewpoint, and how understanding emotional filtering can add power and resonance to your work. We’ll study some examples in mentor texts, and play with point of view through hands-on writing practices.
