Tampa – Tampa Bay’s 3rd Annual Celebration of the DIY Inventive Spirit brings everything from Super Heroes to Blacksmith Artists, to Electric Race Cars and fighting robots to the Florida Fairgrounds Special Events Center West, at 4800 Highway 301 North in Tampa, on April 5 & 6.
Gulf Coast MakerCon is an Affiliate Event of the USA Science & Engineering Festival. The event will feature a Robotics Showcase in celebration of National Robotics Week, as well as an International Tabletop Day celebration co-hosted by Suncoast Skirmishers, where tabletop gaming enthusiasts can try their hand at everything from Dungeons & Dragons to board games and card games.
Guests will be able to enjoy technical, creative and professional exhibits, workshops and sessions covering everything from patent development and the inventive process, to 3D printing, programming, mechanical and electrical design, green tech and open source technologies, with a special Young Makers section for kids and families, as well. There will be a wide variety of creative and interactive vendors, exhibitors, and entertainment that includes everything from robotics and metalsmithing, to recycled instruments, automotive tech, gaming, inventions, innovations, future tech and much more. In the Robotics Showcase, guests can enjoy student built robotics by FIRST teams, and the University of South Florida Robotics Interest Group will be hosting 15 lb. and under class fighting robot competitions.
There will also be a Makerspace Makers Corner, a Florida Inventors Showcase hosted by the Tampa Bay Inventors Council, Electrathon of Tampa Bay student built electric race cars, and much more.
Attend Online, discounted Advance Registration Family/Friend Pack Tickets for four are $40 for the weekend, individual tickets for adults are $18 and $10 for children for both days. Ticket costs at the gate, the day of the event, will be $15/day adults (13+); $8/day for kids ages 5-12. Children under age 5 are free.
