What we're about
Welcome to the Tampa Games Developer Guild. The purpose of this group is to inspire and assist members with creation of games for Windows 8 Store, Windows Phone, Steam for Windows, with push to other platforms as an alternative, as well as any board or dice game ideas they might have. Meetings will be informal, fast paced, and fun. "Technical meetings" will provide "how to" knowledge, dealing with design, development, publishing, various tools and marketing aspects. "Open lab" days where members are encouraged to hang out, co-work, and play board games at their leisure on various days. "Board game nights" will not allow computers. Attendees will be encouraged to bring their favorite board games and play them for 'inspiration and ideas' for their next targets. Each month we will have a gamedev challenge. The challenges will be created by the group, or may align to the OneGameAMonth.com challenges. Members publishing an app meeting a challenge will be enouraged to show it off, and potentially win prizes (supply considerations come into play). Vendors who want to provide prizes or sponsor specific challenges are welcome. Right now the group is moderated by Joe Healy ( http://www.twitter.com/devfish ), a Tampa Bay software developer. As the group grows so will the leadership team. Talk to Joe if you have ideas.
