Details
We're trying something new for TBUX - a Virtual Meetup via web-conferencing! Join us for 6 quick Lightning Talks and discussion all in one event, starting at 6pm.
Speakers:
"The Value of an Anthropological Perspective in UX Research” - Anthony Tricarico
Anthony will discuss how principles of anthropology apply to UX - especially as they related to learning about users and designing solutions that solve their problems. Anthony is an adjunct faculty member at the University of South Florida, and currently finishing his Ph.D. in Applied Anthropology.
"Live, Create, Repeat" - JC Mora
JC will share his journey into discovering and learning illustrative pattern-making, and how the process of creating them parallels real-life lessons. JC is an experience designer and illustrator living and working in Tampa, FL, who is inspired by human behaviors, intimate connections, and the beauty of solving universal conflicts.
"Highlights from UXPA International 2018" - Karen Bachmann
Karen spoke at this year's UXPA International conference in June, and will share a recap of the best takeaways. Karen is a long-time TBUX member and a 20+ year UX practitioner including user research, usability requirements definition, and interaction design.
"Personalization: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly" - Mara Low
When you hear about 'personalizing' a digital experience, what does that mean to you? Mara will give examples of how it can be done well, not so well, and really just... :cringe: - all with the goal to drive value for the organization. Mara is the manager of digital strategy and optimization with the The Berndt Group, a leading national digital agency, where she has helped numerous health systems, B2B and B2C clients develop and execute personalization strategies.
"Story Structure and Metaphors" - Nick Hawes
Stories and metaphors can be very powerful tools to create understanding, alignment and empathic connection with your users. Nick will cover the basic construction of and similarities between stories and metaphors, providing examples of how you can apply them to your projects. Nick is a senior UX designer and design research lead with Fifth Third Bank, where he uses a wide range of research and problem solving methods to strategically design products that compliment users’ behaviors and fulfill business needs.
"The Tao of OODA: Making Sure UX Design is a Priority at Your Company" - Don Ricardo, Jr.
Don will take us through the UX design as applied to the OODA Loop - a 4-step decision-making process where the individual or group who makes it through all the stages the quickest, wins. But there's much more to it, as Don will explain in his talk. Don is a UX designer and UI/UX developer who works side-by-side with startups and established businesses to achieve their product vision and building fantastic web apps or websites.
