It is international zine month in July so this open/maker day will feature a zine making event!

Our current collection of zines on loan to us from Tessa is moving to a new home in the Auckland Central Library so we want to fill that space with a new collection of zines.

Schedule
11am - 12pm: Emily from Urban Pantry will be talking about innovative techniques for growing food in the city. More information about Urban Pantry: http://urbanpantry.co.nz/

12pm: Wayne will be demoing his urban planter made from a discarded pallet, and showing how he built it.

12:30pm onwards: BBQ

1pm - 3pm: The zine library drive and zine workshop. Of course, if you have a zine collection you would like to donate/loan to us, we would be happy to oblige. This event is held as part of the Auckland Zinefest. More information about the drive:

3pm - 4pm: Tom Parker will be demoing the XO, a product of the One Laptop Per Child project - an organisation which aims to help children in the developing world learn using IT. More information about OLPC: http://laptop.org.nz/

time to be confirmed: Brent Simpson (of Waiheke Radio) will be talking about running a community radio station, and community media in general. More information about Waiheke Radio: http://www.waihekeradio.org.nz/ (http://www.waihekeradio.org.nz/)

No idea how to screen print but got an idea and always wanted to try?
throughout the day, Rob and Cal will be helping screenprinting enthusiasts make their design ideas become reality. Bring a garment or two and a bright idea.

Want to be part of history? Tangleball needs a sign. So if you would like to create your own letter for the sign, with a theme [steam punk, electronics, windmills, bling, ponies, etc] and in the process, learn some basic marking out skills plus the safe use of powertools such as drills and jigsaws under supervision, join Cal and Rob in creating Tanglesigns.

Check out the Auckland Zinefest website for more zine events!

Of course, if you have projects you find interesting that you would like to showcase, place a comment below or email us at contact@tangleball.org.nz, it does not have to keep with the zine theme.
