• Chod Practice and Receiving

    Casa Ayurveda and Yoga

Anyone who has received transmission for the Chögyal Namkha’i Norbu Chod is invited to participate in this practice, and all others are invited to receive. From the Tara Mandala website: "Chöd, the practice of severance, is a profound ritual for dealing with fears, illnesses, and difficult emotions. Developed in the 11th century by the great Tibetan yogini Machig Labdrön, the practice of Chöd slowly transformed from an obscure practice lineage into a cornerstone of multiple schools of Tibetan Buddhism." (read more here (https://taramandala.org/product/chod-of-chogyal-namkhai-norbu-rinpoche/)). Anyone is welcome to come and receive during this practice, which simply involves lying down or sitting in the center of the practice circle.

  • Meditation and Book Study

Angel's Gate Cultural Center, Building H

Please join us every other Sunday for an open meditation and book study of the Dalai Lama's The Middle Way: Faith Grounded in Reason. Meditations are guided and open to anyone, no experience necessary. We will rotate between mindfulness, and Prajna Paramita (perfection of wisdom) meditation, as taught by Lama Tsultrim Allione. The Book Study will focus on one chapter per meeting, but everyone is welcome to any session, regardless of whether you have read the book already - the discussions will have something for everyone. These sessions are hosted by the Tara Mandala Greater Los Angeles Sangha. Tara Mandala is a retreat center in Colorado founded by Lama Tsultrim Allione, international teacher and author of Wisdom Rising, Feeding Your Demons, and Women of Wisdom. Offered on a donation basis, suggested amount $5. You may bring your own cushion, or use a provided chair or yoga chair. The room is often crisp in the morning, so feel free to bring your own blanket to wrap yourself in.
