What we’re about
The Carolina Tarwheels Bicycle Club is a non-profit (501c) organization welcoming all cyclists who enjoy riding with great folks who share the same passion. Our goals are to offer weekly organized bike rides for all levels of riders, to promote safe cycling, to provide bi-monthly club meetings with topics relevant to cycling, and to host one of the best organized rides in the area, our annual Bikefest event in Hillsborough.
Money raised by the Tarwheels is donated to other non-profit organizations that support cycling including organizations that donate bikes to children, promote safety, and promote cycling.
Our members also serve on various cycling advocacy committees in our community as a voice for cyclists and to integrate our sport safely with pedestrians and motorists.
We welcome new members and encourage individuals to join our organization, enjoy our rides and social activities while promoting our sport and supporting our community.

Gold Park Friday ride to Flat River Cafe/Hurdle Mills
Gold Park, 415 Dimmocks Mill Rd, Hillsborough, NC, USIt's going to be sunny and 55 degrees at the start! We will ride 39.4 miles from Gold Park with a rest stop at Hurdle Mills and this time the next door Flat River Cafe will be open if anyone wants to order a quick lunch, a slice of pie, or corn pudding. Albert from the Scrambler group recommends a grilled cheese with bacon.
We will ride 15ish mph but others who want to go faster or slower are welcome and encouraged to form a separate group. This is generally a no drop ride as long as you can keep above 15mph.

A21 Ride, 71 miles @ ~21 mph
Wilson Park, 1000 Greensboro Street, Carrboro, NC, USSilk/Snow/Sax, 71 miles @ ~21mph. Quick water stop in Snow Camp (mile 40) if needed. Competitive sections:
- County line south of Snow Camp
- Union Grove finale
Due to changing wind direction, we have a rare opportunity to benefit from a tailwind for almost the entire ride. Later start is due to early cold temperatures.
Our goal is to be safe, smooth, and fast with a mixture of double paceline and rotation.
This is NOT a no-drop ride although we will look after each other, particularly with regard to mechanicals. Please feel free to sit in--just don't compete if you haven't been working.

C Herman Wilson Park, Williams Street, Carrboro, NC, USDon't be alarmed - it's the same ride, just renamed in the interests of "truth in advertising" to reflect the reduced pace while we're all wrapped up against the cold.
Goal is a brisk group ride, maintaining an organized pace line, going easy on the climbs and speeding up on the descents and communicating potential hazards to the group.
Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/33666754, a longish southern loop via Castle Rock Farm Road and Lindley Mill, with a well-earned coffee stop at Sax ~mile 37.
Predicted weather: sunny, low 40s at the start, ~50 toward the end, light winds from the SE to E
