Gourmet Guide to Paris, 1 night only

Details

Bonjour Tastourians!

If you're keen to discover the hidden foodie delights of Paris, join us for a night in Paris!

http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/2/b/a/e/event_199871182.jpeg

Our recent trip (https://www.meetup.com/Tastour/photos/all_photos/?photoAlbumId=12848042) inspired me to create this event which will focus on finding good value gourmet experiences. It will feature wine tastings at an art gallery, exclusive perfumeries, marcoons, a cocktail or two at one of Paris best cocktail bars and a 'pop up' style lunch.

Free Time:

There will also be free time for you to join a free walking tour, go to a museum, Eiffel tower or the one of the famous shopping centers.

Optional Extra Language Lesson.

I'm looking at hiring a local language guide for a few hours when we're in Paris for those that would like to brush up. Or if you speak French, get in touch and I'll give you a discount on the trip, if you teach people how to ask for things in a Restaurant and in shops. I'm also chatting with a few Paris meetups to do a language exchange. Please let me know if you're interested in this when you rsvp.

Urgent booking note:

Jodie, Ros and I have already bought our tickets. And I've booked 8 rooms (all double beds - so couples or singles only)

The price below is for the current Eurostar prices. Please book as soon as possible for the best price and to sit with us.

Please RSVP, even if you're a maybe, with your thoughts in the comments.

If you're ready to book, email me to request a booking form at info@tastour.co.uk

Cheers,

Kelly

SATURDAY

On the Eurostar we'll pass the time with quirky games, like list the words that are used in both English and French. And a True or False quiz on Mona Lisa Facts.

When we arrive, we'll checkin. I'll then hand out maps and ask people to go in pairs to buy items for our 'Pop up' lunch. There are some of the best patisseries, cheese shops and wine shops on our doorstep.

Pop up lunch

After our slightly boozy lunch we'll resist the temptation to curl up in our super comfy beds and walk it off instead. You'll have the option to join a professionally guided free tour or come along with me for a wonder of the back streets window shopping for antiques and art - and of course (if you know me) we pop into a wine shop for a free tasting along the way

Art Gallery & Champange Tasting

We'll meet at one of the most hidden, quirky and impressive art galleries/studio in Paris for a Champagne tasting (*Optional small fee of around £10-15 to cover the cost of the bubbles) There will be artist's painting, whilst we sip, sit back and enjoy!

For dinner we'll either go to a crepe restaurant with unusual ingredients, or enjoy a 4 course meal, depending on the group.

And a Tastour would not be complete with a visit to one of best Cocktail bars in Paris (I think Craig would come on this trip again, just to visit this bar)

SUNDAY

The last day can be very flexible. Do you fancy a canal boat ride to Northern Paris (not the tourist one) or perhaps a trip to the Louvre? There are also several walking tours we could join. It's up to the group to decide. I also know a wine shop that will give us a free tasting (so this is worth thinking about too)

If the weather is nice, I suggest:

Lunch at one of the most authentic markets in Paris. You'll be paying market prices (one euro each) for Oysters, and they'll even shuck 'em and give you lemon. There is a huge selection of food to buy at fair prices. If it rains, we will eat near the attraction the group decides on.

On the train home: We'll celebrate a fantastic weekend with bubbles, and a selection of cheeses, meats and baguettes.

Free Time:

*Itinerary of group 'free time' (with the guide) to be decided jointly. You'll be email a list of options to the group and those destinations with the most votes will be included in the tour. This is one of the benefit of being a small group - it's totally flexible.

The price above is for the current Eurostar prices. Please book as soon as possible for the best price and to sit with us.

Includes 2 full days and 1 night hotel at central location, return Eurostar, and 5 single journeys on the metro. Booking of restaurants and guided tasting in the Art gallery*. Optional free tastings in wine shops and access to free professionally guided walking tours. This also includes trip fees and research cost for your guide as well as carefully researched meeting points which allow you to leave the group and rejoin during your stay.

Food & Drink and travel in Paris paid in cash during trip based on expenditure. Although the restaurants will be of good value, we will be booking high quality restaurants. We have not included the food or drink cost to allow people to be flexible with what they spend on the tour and which activities they join in on. Paris is very expensive, and this trip is designed for those that want to have a great experience, but not spend a months rent doing so. You will need an estimated 30-lunch, 45-dinner ; 10-breakfast, 20-40-lunch, 10-eurostar snack + shopping and museum fees - You could get by on less, but I'm guessing around £160-200 for food and drink.)

*The entrance to the Art gallery is free, if participating in the Champagne tasting a small fee for the cost of the champagne at retail prices will be requested)

Breakdown: (estimated values)

Booking fee: £25

Eurostar Time:
