Learn to run - beginner-friendly marathon/half-marathon training run
Group run logistics: Please come prepared for a run (or run/walk). Leave your bags, etc. at home or in your car so that you can run easily. Please make sure to arrive 10 minutes early to sign in, warm up, etc. Coach will brief you at the beginning of the run about the distance (about two to three miles) and direct you through stretching exercises. It is absolutely OK to run/walk in the beginning. Many of us are first-time runners. So please don’t be shy :-). Mileage and route: We adjust the mileage (starting at 3 miles), location and route for each Saturday run to accommodate new and experienced runners. The earlier you join the group runs, easier it will be for you to catch up. Please make sure to check the meetup event on Thursday or Friday to learn about the last minute adjustments. More detailed route map are Gatorade stops published to our private WhatsApp group every week. Please make sure to register officially to be invited to the private group. Registrations: If you have already registered, please remember to collect your t-shirts on Saturday after the run. If you have not already registered, please register here https://www.teamaidasha.org/register . Don't worry much about fundraising, you just have to make sure to attend the fundraising clinic in early July to show how to do it well. Looking for more runners: We are always looking for more runners. If any of your friends, family members or colleagues to give us a try and join this meetup group. We offer referral discounts for fundraising targets. Suggested weekly training schedule: We recommend two or three short mid-week run/walk sessions on your own or with your local friends from work or home. Midweek runs will stay short for the whole season (about 3-4 miles, etc). Only the Saturday runs will gradually get longer over many weeks. You may want to experiment to find a sustainable schedule that works best for you. For example, run early in the morning before work (recommended), before lunch, after work, etc. * Sunday - 3-4 miles run/walk * Monday - Rest * Tuesday - 3-4 miles run/walk * Wednesday - Rest * Thursday - 3-4 miles run/walk * Friday - Rest * Saturday - Group long run Program overview: TeamAIDAsha is a beginner-friendly marathon/half-marathon training and fund-raising program.
