Jake St. Germain
When I was 8, my grandma took me to Disney World, and unbeknownst to her, set me on the path to tech. Mickey and Minnie were alright, but nowhere near as cool as the tech. Being an Imagineer was the only career goal I ever had as a child.
Since learning to code, I’ve worked at 3 very large companies, on really cool projects. At GE, I was part of the Connected Appliances team, working on apps for the Connected Appliances Suite, including their Alexa skill. At ViacomCBS, I worked on various websites, concentrating on the video experience. This experience led me to Disney, not as an Imagineer, but as a Video Engineer, supporting Disney+, ESPN+, Star+ and Hulu. The path from inspired child to software engineer wasn’t easy, but it was so worth it.
Formal handyman to problem solver, a non-traditional engineer who has grown throughout their career with a purpose to make products more accessible. I graduated from Code Louisville with the skills necessary to help bridge the gap between inventions and solutions. My short-term goal is to create things that ease the lives of others. Long term, I wish to help revolutionize the Augmented/Virtual Realities.
