About the session:
In his presentation Philip will talk about the web technologies his company Taulia used to develop a Software as a Service offering used by many fortune 2000 companies, such as John Deere, Pfizer, Coke and others.
He will talk about the programming language Groovy and the web-framework Grails, which leverage Java technologies and provide a flexible and agile way of developing software by improving on core Java and leveraging similar ideas as they are found in Ruby on Rails and other web-frameworks.
If you are coding in PHP, Ruby, Python, Scala or other languages, you should come to see how other languages and frameworks like Groovy and Grails can be applied to create large-scale applications.
If you are using Java and are looking to develop more agile, write less boiler-plate code and leverage conventions rather than configurations this talk is for you.
We will have an introduction to Groovy and Grails followed by a live demonstration of the language and framework.
About Philip:
Philip is an entrepreneur, tech-geek, innovation lover and currently a co-founder and the CTO of Taulia (www.taulia.com (http://www.taulia.com/)).
Before he started his first company in 2007 he worked as an early employee at Ebydos, an enterprise software company in the accounts payable space, and then for the company that acquired them in 2006.
Over the years he has worked with enterprise software, SAP, iPhone apps, Facebook apps, SaaS platforms as well as many other web-technologies. He is also active in the startup scene and helping out other startups in the SF Bay Area.
