Career Experts Panel: Career Paths in Tech

Details

Hosted by BCjobs.ca in partnership with BC Tech and Discovery Foundation, the Career Experts series of events is aimed at preparing candidates to make their best impressions at Talent Day and as they move forward with their careers in tech.

We’ll be having a discussion with local HR and recruitment experts in tech to learn more about non-linear career paths. Learn how to move up (or across) in a company, how these paths can help you find your dream job, and how this can be a useful career strategy - especially if you’re new to tech, a new immigrant, or looking for a new challenge!

Discovery Founation - The Discovery Foundation’s mandate is to promote and facilitate innovation and the development of the technology sector in British Columbia. Discovery Foundation launched the Technology Education Program (TEP) in 2010 to educate BC innovators on how to move their ideas from conception to commercialization. Business development, sales, marketing, finance and operational skills are all required to support growth. TEP offers educational programs to BC entrepreneurs to upgrade their business skills with the goal to grow world-scale, BC-based technology companies. To learn more visit www.discoveryfoundation.ca.

BC Tech - Making BC the best place to grow and scale a tech company has been the mission of the BC Tech Association since 1993. While our members focus on growing their businesses, BC Tech has been providing opportunities for our industry members to collaborate, learn, and grow together. Devhub Vancouver - Devhub was originally created by Lighthouse Labs to help support the growth of developers by bringing them together through education, community initiatives, and co-working space. First launched in Toronto in 2016, Devhub has helped support developers throughout their careers; with the guiding belief that exceptional programmers are lifelong learners. In 2018, Devhub opened a second location in Vancouver in the hopes of further providing support to the dev community on the west coast and all dev communities across Canada. Lighthouse Labs
Lighthouse Labs was created in 2013 by a team of software developers with a passion for code, mentorship, and education. Our mission: to continuously find the best ways to train the next generation of developers and transform the way tech education is delivered. Five years later, we have introduced over 20,000 Canadians to the practice of coding and launched 1,000+ graduates into careers as professional developers. With the support of a brilliant team of instructors and mentors who view coding as the ultimate craft, we continue to empower students, launch careers, and contribute to the incredible growth of Canada’s tech industry.
