InDesign for Publishing, presented by Barb Shepard

At the InDesign seminar, she will illustrate how the newspaper uses InDesign to create its pages, a process that could be adapted by any business wanting to create fliers or newsletters, for example.

A little about Barb:

Barb Shepherd is CEO and publisher of The West Volusia Beacon, a newspaper she helped found in DeLand, Florida, in 1992.
A native of Indiana and a graduate of Leadership DeLand, Barb has been working in community newspapering for more than 35 years. She started her career in 1979 at the DeLand Sun News.
In addition to her work at the newspaper, Barb is president of Conrad Realty Co., which owns the historic Downtown DeLand complex of commercial buildings that are home to The Beacon, Artisan Alley, and 23 other local businesses. She has been redeveloping the property since 2004 and also serves as the property manager.
Barb is married to Jeff Shepherd, a professional saxophonist and a map-drawer for the Florida Department of Transportation. The Shepherds have two grown daughters who both live in Orlando, and a 2-year-old grandson.

Presentation will discuss the tools, methods, practices and challenges in creating a successful project culture. By developing a project culture, your organization will be capable of efficiently reacting to the challenges arising from an ever changing business environment.

A little about Benny:
Benny has more than 12 years of corporate and higher education with work experience in internet technologies and web production. He is the Director of Web Projects for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University where he plans, directs, and ensures the successful management of digital projects.
Benny has earned Search Engine Marketing certifications with Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization (SEMPO) and WebCEO. He's a graduate of the University of Florida and earned an MBA with emphasis in entrepreneurism and is passionate about technology, marketing, and wellness strategies.
