Code Craftsman Saturdays - a Deep Dive w/ Henry Beitz

Details

SHORT VERSION: You get fed (breakfast & lunch), you pair-program or mob program with strangers from around the area, you learn, a LOT. Oh yeah, and it's FREE! Also see the FREE PARKING location at the bottom.

LONGER VERSION: Code Craftsman Saturdays alternates each month between a regular Code Retreat format workshop (skills practice/reinforcement) and a deep-dive format (learn new things).

For our September gathering, one of our own, Mr Henry Beitz will be walking us through a process he has developed and used over many years and on projects large and small, simple and complex.

Henry is a veteran of the computer industry who has been involved in hardware and software design for more than 50 years. He has worked with traditional coding languages, object orientation and Agile methods.

Starting around 8:30 we will enjoy breakfast together and get to know one another. Around 9 I will introduce Henry and he will take you for a tour, explaining as you go, and then challenge you apply what you've learned on one of more problems

What's going on here is learning, and practicing with people from all over the area. By pair programming or mobbing with people you would otherwise never have the opportunity to work with you get exposed to different ways of thinking, different habits, and different skills, roughly 6 times in the course of one day.

The primary focus of a deep dive in new learning. The primary focus of a code retreat is practicing our skills until they become great habits.

WHAT TO BRING: As always, these are workshops. If you have a laptop, please bring it, and the power supply, as you will likely use it throughout the day.

FREE PARKING:
The Washtenaw County Courthouse on the corner of N Fourth Ave and East Anne St has multi-level parking all day on weekends. Entrance is on Anne St.
