BDPA hosts ‘BDPA Cincinnati Speaker Series’ to collaborate with the vibrant community of like-minded technology professionals of color in our city. The doors are wide open for those folks who are passionate about all things technical. Our meetups encourage fun, socializing and high level talks on a variety of technology topics. IT recruiters and IT job seekers are both welcome!

Many have wondered what it is like to become an entrepreneur. We've asked a person with much experience in this world to be our guest speaker. Lawrence Jones (https://www.linkedin.com/in/lawrence-jones-bb8595109/) Is the founder of Just Hire Me (http://www.justhireme.co/). He began his commitment to our youth in 2005 when he launched YEP, Young Entrepreneurs. He has over a decade in experience with at risk youth.

He has across the board experience in dealing with organizations focused on youth issues. He began his work as a part of a church group consisting of 20 churches. He spent his early years as a member of A Small Group, which is a sub group of the Abundant Community (http://www.asmallgroup.net/pages/content/aboutasg.html). He has worked on several police and community relations initiatives. Most notably reducing the murder rate between Avondale and Bond Hill during 2005-2006. He was a part of the original Stop the Violence movement with The Seven Hills Neighborhood House.

He is a member of Cintrifuse (http://www.cintrifuse.com), NAN, NAACP, African American Chamber of Commerce, and Regional USA Chamber of Commerce. He is Mortar alumni, and also Founder Institute alumni. He is the CEO of three other companies. He is a recent winner of the Engage Cincy Grant (http://www.cincinnati-oh.gov/manager/engage-cincy/) which is given to thought leaders of innovative and disruptive civic and technology businesses.

He has developed and launched the Just Hire Me app to create jobs for teenagers with a goal of 1,000 jobs specific to teenagers. He is also developing a financial literacy workshop where youth and parents can invest together in wealth building. Lawrence Jones stays in Cincinnati, Ohio.

BDPA is pleased to welcome Lawrence to share his expertise and wisdom with BDPA members. Anyone, regardless of race or color, is welcome to attend!
