What are The Timmy Awards?

The Timmy Awards by Tech in Motion (http://blogs.techinmotionevents.com/) is an awards ceremony recognizing the best places for tech professionals to work in Philadelphia. While many tech awards are given to brilliant individuals and their technological advancements, the Timmy Awards aim to recognize those who employ those technologists, the companies and managers supporting and driving the innovation. And we want YOU to weigh in.

• Dawn McDougall – is the Executive Director of Code for Philly.Dawn is a strategic thinker, doer and community builder in the Philadelphia tech space. At Drexel, she studied urbanism, governance and civic participation as part of a major she designed herself, called Sustainable Urbanism. She parlayed her critical thinking skills, social science research experience, and insatiable curiosity to launch a career in tech.

Since 2015, Dawn has gone on to lead Code for Philly--a civic tech volunteer group using tech and data as a mode of civic engagement to reimagine and improve civic infrastructure in the City of Philadelphia. Code for Philly is a leader in the civic tech space as one of the largest, most mature, and active communities in the country. As Executive Director, Dawn continues to work on defining Code for Philly’s forward-looking vision, building organizational capacity to scale, developing strategic partnerships, and managing the leadership team and advisory board.

• Jake Stein – is co-founder and CEO of Stitch, an ETL service built for software developers. Previously, he was co-founder of RJMetrics, which was acquired by Magento in July 2016. Before RJMetrics, Jake worked in venture capital, started a landscaping business in high school, and was the 44th ranked table tennis player under 21 in New Jersey; achievements of which he is equally proud.

Jake has also served as an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at Drexel University, a mentor at the PSL Accelerator, and an investor in local startups. He graduated from Wharton with high honors and a degree in Entrepreneurship and Finance.

• Tracey Welson-Rossman – is a Founding Member and Chief Marketing Officer at Chariot Solutions, where she is responsible for branding, marketing, and managing the sales team. Recently honored as one of 40 Women to Watch over 40 worldwide, she is also the Founder of TechGirlz, a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring teenage girls to consider careers in technology.

In addition to being the Founder and current Chair of the annual Emerging Technologies for the Enterprise Conference, Tracey is also a Founding Board Member of Philadelphia Startup Leaders, an organization dedicated to growing technology startup businesses and the largest and most active community of startup entrepreneurs in Philadelphia. Tracey is a board member for the Philadelphia Economy League and Creating IT Futures. She is currently serving as an adviser for Roar for Good.

• Tian Chen – is the Chief Product Officer of Philadelphia Media Network. He works directly with the digital product, analytics and IT teams, as well as the newsroom and advertising/circulation/marketing departments to better serve users while growing their audience, reader engagement and revenue.

Prior to his time at Philadelphia Media Network, Tian served as Head of Digital Products for Al Jazeera News. He also worked in Senior Project Management, Media Productions and Operations at HBO, where he was directly involved in launching the very successful HBO GO, a TV everywhere platform. Earlier in his career, he was a Product Manager at Grab Networks (formerly Anystream). Tian is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he received a B.S. in Computer Engineering.

• Aaron McLean – Chief Operating Office of Stuzo

Aaron is Partner and Chief Operating Officer at Stuzo (http://www.stuzo.com/) where he oversees Delivery, Marketing, Operations, and Product, running a team of 50+ people across 3 offices in the US and Eastern Europe. Previously, Aaron founded Eight Eleven Inc., a marketing technology company, eFlex CMS, a Website Content Management company, and Philly Startup Leaders (http://www.phillystartupleaders.org/), which became Greater Philadelphia’s largest and most active network of tech startup entrepreneurs. Aaron served as CMO at A Way to Donate (http://awaytodonate.com/), and also as Head of Product and Marketing at EasyCopay (http://www.easycopay.com/), both of which are venture-backed social impact technology ventures. Aaron remains active in the startup community, having been an advisor and mentor to several funded technology startups and startup accelerators including GoodCompany Ventures (http://goodcompanyventures.org/), PSLU Accelerator (http://accelerator.phillystartupleaders.org/), Corzo Center (http://corzocenter.uarts.edu/), Curtis Institute of Music (http://www.curtis.edu/), Lean Startup Machine (https://www.leanstartupmachine.com/), and EDSI (http://www.e-designstudio.com/) at University of Pennsylvania. Aaron is also a frequent public speaker and has presented for or participated on panel discussions with Google, PHIMA, University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, Temple University, University of the Arts, AiPH, and Philly Startup Leaders, among others.
