TechniGal LA is a group dedicated to influencing girls ages 13 and up to take interest in the industry/world of technology, by introducing them to the all the possibilities of the tech industry, no matter what their interest may be (programming, design, law, business management, etc.).

This group also welcomes women of all ages, and all levels of experience! We will have Hack Nights, offer mentorships, classes/resources, and fun networking events of all kinds! We want to expose, promote, and celebrate girls and women who shine in the tech industry, and influence other girls to defy the odds and do the same! Like a true TechniGal!

Meet the panelists: PRINCESS SARAH CULBERSON OF SIERRA LEONE was adopted one year after her first birthday by a loving, white West Virginia couple and raised in the United States with little knowledge of her ancestry. In 2004 Sarah took the journey to Sierra Leone to meet her birth family and discovered she had the status of princess. She co-founded Sierra Leone Rising, a non-profit to support the community and shared her story in a book she co-authored titled, "A Princess Found". Her story has been featured on CNN, Good Morning America, BBC radio, and many other media outlets. JUAN SEBASTIAN VASQUEZ tackles big problems with creative solutions as Data Programs Manager at the Office of Finance for the City of Los Angeles. Last year he also started his own business during his free time offering freelance professional and educational data-centric services to clients such as General Assembly, First 5 LA, and Annenberg Tech. KAYLA MCCULLEY is Trilogy Education's Corporate Events Outreach Manager - West. Trilogy Education partners with the world’s leading universities to help companies bridge the digital skills gap and Kayla connects tech industry professionals with top talent throughout the West region. She is the first Repurposer (a graduate of Repurpose Your Purpose) to appear on one of our panels. EMMA YEE believes product managers are responsible for making the world a better place by building software that improves users lives, even in the smallest way. She loves data and working in agile environments (which produce feedback quickly). She has applied analysis to her own life to the point that she's extremely efficient - her teams vary from 15-17 total engineers, 2-3x the average team size of a PM. She also takes care of the big picture, driving strategy and launching large, complex projects, because "without the big picture there would be no needle to move." TechniGal LA presents the first ever Founder Shower series, a celebratory event where the community comes together to support a fellow female founder in their tech-related entrepreneurial venture by providing them (or "showering them") with tools and resources that we feel will be essential in getting their business off the ground and encouraging them on their journey!
