OVERVIEW:
When we build apps, our general approach is to build them only to work online.
Lack of network connectivity is often assumed to be an error condition.

But even in today’s world, where network connected devices are virtually everywhere, reliable internet connectivity is STILL relatively sparse. And therefore, we must build apps which work OFFLINE.

With the offline-first approach, we assume that by default, our app will NOT have network connectivity, but will function without it. Then, the app can be progressively enhanced to take advantage of connectivity when available.

At Technogise, we’ve built offline-first mobile apps for our clients using various approaches.

We learned to shift our mindset to build apps that work without connection. And we had to overcome the complex technical challenges associated with building such apps.
Through this session, we will share our learnings.

AGENDA OF SESSION:
We will discuss:

  • the various approaches with which offline first apps can be built
  • their design & architecture
  • the merits and demerits of these approaches
  • the challenges associated with them.
