The trail starts out straight uphill on a dirt road for 3/4 of a mile and 300 feet elevation gain -- you cannot park any closer without getting a ticket or towed. Coming down we'll take a slightly less steep, paved road -- it's longer but easier for downhill.
The hike is rated moderate by most sources -- 1500 feet elevation gain, 6 to 7 miles total and we think it will take 4 to 5 hours total (it's an out and back).
Remember to bring lots of water, snacks and hiking poles if you use them -- parts are climbing on steep rocks with switchbacks. Later it crosses a beautiful wildflower area called the Garden of Eden -- can't wait!
Hope you'll be able to join us too! This meet up is organized by Joni and John Loftis.
