Learning Financial Market Data with Recurrent Autoencoders in TensorFlow by Steven Hutt

The goal of this talk is to give an introduction to learning patterns in sequences using Recurrent Neural Networks and TensorFlow. We will review some of the latest advances in RNNs and discuss applications of RNNs to learning patterns in market data.

Steven Hutt is a consultant in Deep Learning and Financial Risk, currently working for CME Group. He has previously been head quant for credit at UBS and Morgan Stanley, and before that a mathematician doing stuff in an obscure branch of topology.

Image recognition with TensorFlow by Yaz Santissi

Image recognition is a problem that clearly illustrates the advantages of machine learning over traditional programming approaches. In this deep dive, Yaz will show us how to quickly get set up with TensforFlow on Ubuntu using containers. To be even more efficient, what is becoming known as transfer learning will be demonstrated. An existing image recognition model will be used rather than the time consuming approach of building one from scratch. Subsequently, the classifier model will be trained with new images. And finally, ways of optimizing this TensorFlow process will be highlighted.
