What we're about

Celebrating 24 years of outdoor adventures, the Texins Outdoor Club was founded on September 19th, 1996.

Thank you for considering joining the Texins Outdoor Club. As you might think with a club that's 24 years old, we're experiencing some changes in the club. Attrition. Limited time and energy from those who organized many of our trips in the past. But, that's to be expected with any club this "seasoned".

If you have the interest in planning a trip, you're what TOC is looking for. If you want to eventually hold a leadership role in TOC, you're what TOC is looking for.

Our mission is to provide opportunities where you may participate in group activities in a fun, easy-going, and healthy environment. Our events are planned to extend individual awareness, knowledge, appreciation, and enjoyment of the outdoors. We strive to build understanding for the wise use, preservation, and respect for the outdoors and its natural beauty. We achieve these goals, in part, by practicing the Principles of Leave No Trace.4

We are interested in many outdoor adventure sports including, but not limited to, backpacking in our country's pristine state and national parks, biking (both road and mountain), camping, hiking, and paddling the wild and wonderful rivers of Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas and beyond. Our events are led by volunteer members. Our goal is to plan year-around outdoor events. Occasionally, we'll take extended trips traveling to far off destinations out of state and even outside the US.

In the past, we held monthly meetings to socialize, plan events, and share, but that's on hold at this time. Meetup Organizers volunteer their time, skills and knowledge to provide opportunities so that others may improve their skills while participating in outdoor activities.

TOC's members are folks of all ages who appreciate and are involved with the outdoors. Member involvement is necessary to make TOC thrive. Our club is small - we like it that way. Some in the club have known each other for as long as the club's been in existence; however, we need and want new members, to keep the club going, to bring new energy, and to introduce new ideas and new trips to our members.

By joining the Texins Outdoor Club (aka TOC) Meetup group, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to:
a) the Liability Release Agreement included below
b) the Principles of Leave No Trace included below

Failure to abide by the Terms of Membership may result in loss of membership in TOC.

None! In August 2019, the club eliminated its nominal $25/year dues fee.
