Celebrating 22 years of outdoor adventures, the Texins Outdoor Club (aka TOC) was officially formed on September 19th, 1996.
INTRODUCTION Thank you for considering joining the Texins Outdoor Club. If you like nature, if you like to get outdoors to explore, exercise, and just get away, this is your club - you are among friends. Our events are sometimes challenging! Whether it’s hitting a bike trail on short notice, hiking the woods on a weekend outing, paddling our favorite stream, or traveling to find breath-taking scenery and adventure, we love taking every opportunity to get out there. Browse our website and see what we are about. If you see something you like and live in the North Texas area, RSVP. If you have an idea for an outing, suggest it. One of our organizers will contact you and firm things up. If you are lucky enough to find your way outdoors, leave nothing behind and take nothing but memories.
MISSION STATEMENT Our mission is to provide opportunities where you may participate in group activities in a fun, easy-going, and healthy environment. Our events are planned to extend individual awareness, knowledge, appreciation, and enjoyment of the outdoors. We strive to build understanding for the wise use, preservation, and respect for the outdoors and its natural beauty. We achieve these goals, in part, by practicing the Principles of Leave No Trace.
ACTIVITIES & MEETINGS We are interested in many outdoor adventure sports including, but not limited to, backpacking in our country's pristine state and national parks, biking (both road and mountain), camping, hiking, and paddling the wild and wonderful rivers of Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. Our events are led by volunteer members. Our goal is to plan year-around outdoor events. Occasionally, we'll take extended trips traveling to far off destinations out of state and even outside the US.
We try to meet monthly to socialize, plan events, and share . Meetup Organizers volunteer their time, skills and knowledge to provide opportunities so that others may improve their skills while participating in outdoor activities.
MEMBERS TOC's members are folks of all ages who appreciate and are involved with the outdoors. Member involvement is necessary to make TOC thrive. Our club is small - we like it that way. Some in the club have known each other for as long as the club's been in existence; however, we need and want new members, to keep the club going, to bring new energy, and to introduce new ideas and new trips to our members.

In 2017, we began a 60-day trial membership period policy for new members - that continues. After that trial period, if you are unpaid after that point, you are withdrawn from the Club. You may rejoin ONCE more, but your window will only be 30 days. Returning members follow the same policy (eff. 2018) ... if membership unpaid on March 1, you are withdrawn from TOC.
You may also pay by check, payable to Texins Outdoor Club. Please give your check to any officer, event organizer, or mail to TOC Treasurer, 1909 Rustic Creek Dr, Garland, TX 75040. For check payments, also email firstname.lastname@example.org to advise to which member you gave your check. Dues are not prorated for partial year memberships.
Click here to read the Club Charter (http://files.meetup.com/1767879/Texins%20Outdoor%20Club%20Charter.pdf) This critical document reflects our club's government structure, our club's goals, and the proper etiquette that we expect all members to follow when participating in any club event. Our wilderness areas are slowly shrinking and if the ones we have are not properly maintained, we will have no wilderness areas left. TOC is member club of the Texins Association of Clubs (TAC), a non profit organization related to Texas Instruments; however, anyone is welcome to join TOC.
