"The aim of the network is to build a community of likeminded people...[it] is really about working with likeminded people..."
I'm wanting to bring together a large network of people throughout Leicester who want to make a positive change in society. Recently (over the past months or years) you've been saying, "God, I need help to do this!" and "There must be someone else like me... who feels this great desire to cause growth in my environment like I do!" You want to challenge yourself to do greater and make a bigger impact. You want to do and be a part of something big although, you can't quite grasp the fullness of what that is. I want you to join me if this is you.
By ourselves we don't have all the answers and despite having a strong will or good intentions, it can be pretty hard trying to carry the weight of wanting to do something by yourself!
"For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable" - Romans 11:29
My hope is that many different projects will come out of this network, that will benefit the development of people and society. You may not be an ideas person, but someone could give you instructions of what to do and you would run with it. You may not be good at media or promotion, but you're really good at hospitality and administration. Or you don't mind what you do, but you just want to be involved, which is equally wonderful too!
I see that someone will help where another lacks (1 Corinthians 12:11-27). For example, I want to do media projects around homelessness and personal development. I want to do the editing, but don't have the time to develop that editing skill to do things at the speed I want to. HOWEVER there IS someone in Leicester (or surrounding areas) who has this skill and would be able to help bring these ideas forward. :)
>"Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?" - Amos 3:3
Let's find out where we agree. 5 people may want to work on one project and a different 3 on another - Great! I really want there to be a great social aspect to the network. This network is really about working with likeminded people, to do some things that challenge us beyond where we are today. Rules: > NO poaching - This is not an opportunity for what I call "church poaching" - Trying to push someone to attend your church because you want them there.
>Don't promote and then leave - Don't come to a meeting, promote an event and then we never hear from you again. Remember that the aim of the network is to build a community of likeminded people.
This group is aimed at followers of Christ (AKA Christian's), although people who are burning to get on board are welcome to come to a G.I.C Network social.
