The 508 Writers' Club is a small, easy-going group of writers who are looking to share and receive feedback regarding their work. Any genre is acceptable--the only exception would be writing that actively promotes hatred toward any race, religion, and sexual orientation.
There is a 5 dollar annual fee. 100 percent of the money received by the club will be used within the club. If you want to join, but cannot pay the fee financially, please message James, the moderator. This fee was not meant for a profit, but as a way to highlight those who actively want to participate in the club.
We typically meet once a month at the Shrewsbury Public Library from 10AM to Noon on a Saturday. Which Saturday that month is TBA.
We will be having a meeting on Aug 31 from 10 to 12 in *Room D* on the 2nd floor.
Our meetings are usually broken down like this:
10 to 11:
We'll have a fun writing game that we'll play to break the ice and to get creativity flowing. This month we're being working on character development.
11 to 12:
~Anyone can bring any work they would like to be critiqued. This can be poems, short stories, chapters of novels, etc...
~Considering time constraints, please provide only a few pages for people to critique. The group does not have time to go over a magnum opus.
~Please bring printed copies with you (check to see the RSVP as to how many to bring). The library has printers, but they charge per copy and can be a bit unreliable.
~If you are bringing in work, write something in the comments that says you are bringing a piece to share--just so we have a general idea.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in August!
