Saturday Laughs: Daleks - Invasion Earth: 2150AD

Here's one for fans of the original Mystery Science Theatre 3000. Several of the guys from MST3K continue to make a business of skewering bad movies as Rifftrax - this one did not escape their notice. Christian of our group recently viewed the first movie, inspiring me to continue with the second.

This is the 2nd (and better) of the two 60's non-canonical theatrical adaptations of the Doctor Who series featuring Dr. Who (his actual name) played by Peter Cushing. He's an eccentric human inventor who invents a time machine that happens to look like a police box. Aimed at what would appear to be 6 year olds, the "comedy" bits would make Benny Hill cringe.

A policeman stumbles into the TARDIS just as everyone is whisked into future London in 2150 where the Daleks have already invaded and started mining out the Earth's core to make it into some giant spaceship thingy. We get to see full-color Daleks (and lots of them) and flying saucers. Bernard Cribbins plays the policeman here and he faces the Daleks yet again 42 years later in "The Stolen Earth" as Donna Noble's father. Sadly no Slyther but instead we have Philip Madoc who would feature multiple times in the TV series and veteran actress Eileen Way.

Just to get everyone in the right mood, we'll start off with a video snack: "Rifftrax: Flying Stewardesses". A 10 minute clip from one of their live movie showings about the training of stewardesses. Hope no one is from Ft Worth...

I'll have light snacks (nuts, hummis, chips) and sparkling water available for any attendees but feel free to bring along anything of your choosing (for yourself or the group). I do have a cat so keep that in mind for those with allergies.
