This group is for people in the Austin area living with any kind of anxiety or panic disorder.
I was diagnosed with Anxiety Disorder about 6 years ago. I have had a number of panic attacks and one of my first few involved an extremely embarrassing trip to the hospital.
There is no magic solution to anxiety. I have been prescribed medications for anxiety and depression and have been involved in therapy. Some things that have been helpful to me have been cognitive behavioral therapy (particularly acceptance). I am a huge believer in acceptance, letting unpleasant feelings come and learning not to judge them.
Different people have learned different coping tactics and tried different therapies. The diversity of coping skills and our shared experiences are a real value that this group brings to it's members.
So please know that you are welcome, and know your experience with panic and anxiety will ultimately make you a wiser, stronger and more empathetic person.
