The Azure Group (TAG) provides a forum for IT professionals to discuss and share expertise in understanding the cloud technologies available through the Microsoft Azure platform offerings. As organizations look to add cloud technologies to their suite of IT solutions, new technologies, new infrastructure opportunities and challenges arise. Started in Toronto and expanding across Canada, the goal of TAG is to share real world experiences and provide education opportunities as they relate to the Microsoft Azure cloud offerings. Our membership includes IT practitioners, managers, network administrators, students, and anyone who is interesting in learning more about implementing or leveraging the Azure services. Membership is free, simply sign up for event emails in the box below and show up to our event. No event registration required.
Topic 1: Azure Resource Graph: Get instant access to resource information across all your Azure environments
Azure Resource graph is a new service which allows you to explore your Azure resources using CLI/PowerShell and a new query language. While it is possible today to query resources directly using CLI/PowerShell, this is much slower than using the Resource Graph and usually results in complicated scripts to maintain. CLI/PowerShell also does not allow you to do cross subscription queries, which Resource Graph does by default.
This presentation will introduce you to Resource Graph and how to query resources with complex filtering, grouping, and sorting by resource properties. We will also build queries to explore resources based on Azure governance requirements and convert the resulting expression into a policy definition.

Arlan Nugara is a Cloud Solution Architect that speaks widely on Azure and DevOps. He has been awarded a MVP (Most Valuable Professional) in Azure for the past 2 years by Microsoft for his expertise and contributions to the technical community across the US and Canada. Arlan’s original background was in software development with a specialization in enterprise software development and architecture for financial institutions over the previous 20 years. Arlan’s focus over the past 2 years has been the building of Azure solutions where security is a key driving factor for a client’s migration to the Azure cloud. A critical part of this approach is the building of a landing zone as a configured environment with a standard set of secured cloud infrastructure, policies, best practices, guidelines, and centrally managed services.
