Are you totally psyched to dance? We are too. We're especially psyched to dance in a beautiful space to a really eclectic but integrated mix of music, without shoes, and without any drinking or drugs to get in the way of the real fun. You'll find a range of ages, and a friendly environment where you can dance in your own space, or interact playfully with others. It's a truly fun dance party!
The Barefoot Boogie is a freestyle dance which happens twice a month in New York City, on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. If you've enjoyed any kind of conscious dance, ecstatic dance, 5 Rhythms, JourneyDance, contact improv, or any other kind of freeform dance, you'll enjoy the Boogie too. ( And if you've never been to any of these things but just love to move and dance, you'll probably love the Boogie too!) Come alone or bring your friends.
At every Boogie you'll hear a wide variety of music: R&B, funk, tribal groove, ambient, world beat, electronica, disco, dub-step, swing-hop, you name it. The Barefoot Boogie is held at the New York Insight Meditation Center, at 28 West 27th Street, 10th Floor (Buzzer #27).
Admission is a sliding scale from $10 to $15. (If this cost is too much for you, please consider volunteering! Door shift volunteers will receive $5 off for one door shift and a free dance for 2 door shifts.) Kids are welcome, and 12 and under are free. However, all children must be accompanied by an adult.
