Virtual Bay Area Clojure Meetup

Details

The Bay Area Clojure Meetup is starting up again! It's going to be hosted on Zoom and we're going to start with some lightning talks to get things rolling. We're looking for some short 2-10 min talks, anything Clojure related: pet project, new tool, general excitement about it, anything goes. Please message me here or email me at katie.ballinger @ gmail.com if you or someone you know has something you'd like to contribute.

Ben Wen - Using re-frame-firebase for fun and profit

Re-frame, the popular React framework for ClojureScript, paired with Google’s Firebase offering makes for productive environment for building dynamic web applications. Ben returned to software development in 2017 as a Clojure programmer and is now the CTO of Tallyfor. Previously he was VP Marketing roles for cloud software companies Joyent and MongoLab. Ben has a CS degree from MIT.

Vincent Cantin - Grammar-based CSS generation with Girouette

CSS libraries like Tailwind and Tachyons provide quantities of predefined class names, hoping to cover most of the needs of their users. But because of combinatory explosion, they cannot provide all the class names users will ever need, in which case the users will have to hack their way with config files and/or handwritten CSS. When releasing for production, the unused CSS classes are removed from the CSS files using tools like PurgeCSS. Girouette is taking the opposite approach where we first look at which class names are used, and from their names and a grammar associated with some generation rules, the corresponding CSS rules are created.
