Follow The Flavor Trail: Hike & Beer

This Saturday we follow the flavor trail into the Bavarian Alps with Paul Higgins of Higgins Ale Works and Radu Luchian of Hopsylvania for a full day hike through the region of Lenggries. Rumor has it you might even get to enjoy a beer with a view (Gipfelbier) once we reach the top of Seekarkreuz at 1,601m. After the hike we’ll head down to Bad Tölz where we’ll be greeted by Kirsten Rhein at Tölzer Mühlfeldbräu for their brewery festival. We’ll have some well deserved beers to quench that post-hike thirst and there’ll be food options as well, of course!

HIKE DETAILS

Route: Lenggries — Lenggrieser Hütte — Seekarkreuz
Distance: ~14km
Elevation gain: ~900m (or 650m if you skip the peak)
Duration: ~6h (including breaks)
Details: Meet at Munich Central Station (Tracks 27-32) at 08:10 from where we’ll take the 08:27 BOB train (11.50 €/person if we get 3x Bayern Ticket). Don’t be late! We will pass by the hut first, so if anyone wants to skip the peak they can wait for us there (no Gipfelbier for you though). After the hike we take the 16:47 train and arrive at Bad Tölz at 17:00, then it’s just a very short walk to the brewery. The 3 train tickets will give us more flexibility to leave in groups of 4 at different times.

REQUIREMENTS

Know your limits! It’s a medium fitness level hike, technically easy, with just some brief steep and slippery sections. This is a group outing together, not an organized tour, so you are responsible for your own safety. It’s, first and foremost, a responsible hike… until Tölzer Mühlfeldbräu that is. 🙂

This event is ONLY for those who are hiking and THEN going with us to the brewery festival at Tölzer Mühlfeldbräu. If you want to go directly to the festival, you can group together with other people here and take the BOB train with a shared Bayern Ticket (it’s cheaper this way).
