Crisis-driven innovation: Lessons from the humanitarian innovation world

Please register through Eventbrite to access the webinar link: https://dih9.eventbrite.com -------------------------------------- About this Event: There’s a paradox in the world of innovation management. We’re used to thinking that innovation is about careful use of resources, channelling R&D spending, skilled people, good facilities and a well-organized knowledge base to continue to create value from ideas. Yet there’s plenty of evidence to suggest that sometimes it’s precisely the lack of resources, the severe constraints emerging under crisis conditions which lead to breakthrough thinking and successful radical innovation. This seminar will draw on experiences in the crisis-filled world of humanitarian innovation to explore some key themes. Speaker's bio: Originally a chemical engineer, John Bessant has been active in the field of technology and innovation management for over 35 years. He is currently holds the Chair in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Exeter and has visiting appointments at the universities of Stavanger, Norway and Erlangen-Nuremburg, Germany. He is the author of 30 books and many articles on the topic and has lectured and consulted widely around the world. In 2003 he was elected a Fellow of the British Academy of Management. Host: Dr. Andrew Maxwell is an innovation expert and The Bergeron Chair in Technology Entrepreneurship at the Lassonde School of Engineering. ------------------------------------------ About Disruptive Innovation Hub: Millions have been under lockdown, schools have closed, international travel has halted, global supply chains have been disrupted, and yet, Covid19 continues on its global path, infecting multiple countries along the way. Innovating with Blockchain in Aviation Industry

Online event

Please register through Eventbrite to receive the link to the webinar. diht1.eventbrite.com ------------------------------------ We will discuss from a research standpoint the baggage journey in aviation leveraging Blockchain, from the point of induction, to security and sortation, to loading the bag into the aircraft at departure and arrival. We will cover: -Can the airports keep the passenger informed of where and when their bag is at any given time using Blockchain? -Can Blockchain help reduce the incidence of lost bags by keeping better track of the baggage? -Can we free up the passenger wait times at baggage arrival carousels and turn it into an opportunity to visit the inbound duty free shops using information made available through Blockchain? This presentation is part of the Supply Chain research project initiated by the Research task force at The Blockchain Hub.
