We meet at NESFA in Magoun Square on the third Tuesday of each month. We alternate reading Sci-Fi and Fantasy titles every other month, and our interests span the range from classic to contemporary, serious to silly. Check the calendar, and please join us!

Book Discussion - The Haunting of Tramcar 015 & Every Heart a Doorway

For our June meeting we shall be discussing a pair of novellas, Every Heart a Doorway, and The Haunting of Tramcar 015. Every Heart a Doorway is the first entry in Seanan McGuire's whimsical and moving Wayward Children series, which explores what happens to children once they are returned to the "real" world after their adventures in "wonderlands." The Haunting of Tramcar 015 follows agents of a ministry that handles conflicts between mundane and magical entities as they strive to exorcise a demon that has possessed a tramcar.

Book Discussion - The City in the Middle of the Night

For our July meeting, we shall be discussing the new (2019) Charlie Jane Anders novel, The City in the Middle of the Night. On a planet without a daily sun cycle, human life is regulated by government protocol in zones of frigid dark and burning light, and a lost soul pariah rises up to take on the entire planet.

Book Discussion - The Cloud Roads


For our August meeting, we shall be discussing The Cloud Roads, by Martha Wells. Protagonist Moon is a secretive shape-shifter who struggles to conceal his identity to fit in among the tribes of his river valley. When he meets another shape-shifter, he discovers that his lineage must play a vital role in the survival of the entire colony.
