*Dates: 6 Saturdays: Oct 19, Oct 26, Nov 2, Nov 9, Nov 16, Nov 23

*Instructor: Erin & Gian Paolo (a native Italian)

*This class is good for: Advanced beginners who want to continue improving. Please write me if you’re not sure you’re at this level. Generally, students who take this class should already be comfortable with the following aspects of Italian: exchanging pleasantries; numbers, times, dates, and money; basic vocabulary; conjugating in the present tense and passato prossimo.

*Description of class: This weekly 2 hour class will be broken into segments addressing different topics. We’ll cover: VERBS: Review present tense and passato prossimo, learn imperfetto and trapassato prossimo, and review all tenses (maybe learn the future). GRAMMAR: prepositional articles; object pronouns; comparisons. VOCABULARY & TRANSLATION: working from materials from the Divertente 2 course, we’ll learn vocabulary and get practice using it in conversation and in writing, translating phrses from English into Italian and Italian into English. Plus time devoted to CONVERSATION!

*Homework: You will be expected to memorize the vocabulary each as assigned and to complete the exercises in the workbook and handouts.

*Price: Depends on number of students; no more than $200 for all 6 weeks. (As more students sign up, the price drops. Driving time from Charleston to Beaufort is factored into the price.) Due at the first class you attend by cash or check (note that checks will not be cashed until after the 2nd class, after you’ve decided that you want to continue).

*Materials needed before class starts: Please purchase the textbook “Italian Verb Drills” 3d Ed by Paolo Nanni-Tate before the class begins (you can find it on Amazon here http://tiny.cc/ndm02w for about $11). Handouts will be provided for the other topics.
