A very brief Italian Table weekly update (important information contained - please read)

Ciao a Tutti!

Here is a very quick Il Tavolo Italiano update!

1. Social Meet-ups

a. We currently only have 4 more social events listed! This is because of two main reasons which are:

i. We need your input! We want to do what “we” as in all of us are interested in doing (as much as is practical and possible) so your opinion counts. If you would, please go to

http://www.meetup.com/The-Charleston-Italian-Language-Meetup/polls/

and vote on what type of social events you would like to see us have. And while you are there vote on the other polls as well. Your opinion really has shaped this group, I can’t do that alone, so please, do me a favor and vote! “Ti prego”

ii. We need just a few homes and hosts that would like to host one of our social meet-ups during the summer season. If you ask any of our previous hosts you will find they will all agree on one thing. We have a wonderful group of people to have over so if you would like to host an event this summer, please contact me. It would help us tremendously. The open weekends are the weekends of June 23rd, July 14th, July 28th and August 18th. Grazie!

b. There is no social event this weekend, we apologize.

c. A week from Sunday is our Tiramisu making workshop that also includes a family style Italian dinner where Benito is going to sit down and join us for dinner! (The best restaurant meals are the ones where the boss is seated at the table!) We surpassed our minimum, in fact, we surpassed our original maximum! Having discussed it over with Benito, we decided that since this is a family style dinner we could increase the maximum number so we now have a few more seats available if you would like to come! You can RSVP at

http://www.meetup.com/The-Charleston-Italian-Language-Meetup/events/54723112/

we hope to see you there, it will be a blast!

d. Then on Sunday, June 3, 2012, 6:00 PM we have our “Cena in Italiano”. I am happy to see how many we have signed up for this event but just to be sure I want to make sure everybody understands that this is a “non English” event. If you get stuck, speaking English will not help. Here is an excerpt from the event description: “That's right, no matter how frustrating, no matter how slow speaking, no matter how hilarious, this will be an Italian Language dining event! We will be served in Italian only! This is not for the faint of heart because if you don't understand what you ordered then who knows what you will get because we will not be using English and neither will you! This will be a test of how you could do. The service and even our conversation will be in Italian.” This should be fun! RSVP at

e. Then on Saturday, June 9th, the Low Country Italian Festival will be hosting their first Bocce Tournament Fundraiser and we at the Italian Table want to be their most active sponsor so please come out to help sponsor this event. Details will be announced soon. If you do not know how to play, don’t worry, Russ will be teaching us! RSVP at

And finally, if you haven’t been to

http://iltavoloitaliano.com/

you might want to check it out. Thank you so much for making so much possible. Just a few quick statistic that you deserve the credit for:
We now have:

1. Nearly 1,000 registered users on http://iltavoloitaliano.com/
2. Almost another 200 people following us on YouTube
3. On YouTube our videos have been viewed (in total) over 52,000 times and we now average over 9,000 viewing a month!
4. We have had a total of almost 18,000 podcast downloads and we now average over 1,500 downloads monthly.
5. We are over 400,000 hits or page impressions on the website having over 36,000 last month alone.
6. The visitors to our website have come from 47 states plus the District of Columbia as well as from 111 other nations.
7. The Facebook page is up to 154 likes (some not included of any of the above) and growing
8. And finally our local group is now comfortably at over 400 members.

This is all made possible by you! Thank you! I am honored to be affiliated with you and I mean that. Furthermore because of your support we will soon be offering (hopefully) android apps, a remodeled website, a more interactive online community and more! I can’t thank you enough for making this all possible through your help, participation, support and encouragement. I and literally hundreds if not thousands that are using are materials to learn Italian, Thank you!

Ci vediamo presto!
Carlo
