Important Summer Update! Final call for summer classes and some events!

From: Chuck W.
Sent on: Thursday, July 5, 2012, 8:15 AM

Buongiorno a tutti!

I hope everybody had a wonderful, safe and happy 4th of July!

There are still a lot of great social events coming up (remember that you do not have to speak Italian to come to one unless it says that it is an Italiano only event and there is only one of those this summer). We will be breaking all of our summertime attendance records. Come find out why! You will now also find this summer’s 6 week mini courses on the schedule. In fact we will be closing the mini classes to sign up shortly. And now we are already beginning to schedule out the rest of the year so be sure to keep an eye on http://iltavoloitaliano.com/GroupNews/ where you can see all of the upcoming events and class at a glance.

1. Social Meet-ups

a. Ok, if you don’t like wine, good food and lots of fun then I definitely would not come to this next event because all of these disgusting elements (good food, good wine and fun) will be there in abundance in a beautiful Daniel Island setting! But if you are ready to tough it out no matter how enjoyable it gets then get your $.6.00 out and bring something to throw on the grill because everything else is provided! How cool is that! This will be a bit of a game night designed so every body can participate, have a blast and probably walk away knowing one or two Italian words you didn’t know before but remember (you do not have to be able to speak Italian to come to this event). I hope you choose to RSVP and come! I know this will be an amazingly fun event! Meredith the Hostess is incredible! Come make her day by allowing her to welcome you into her home and entertain you and yours, Italian style! You’ll find more information and sign up at: http://www.meetup.com/The-Charleston-Italian-Language-Meetup/events/65559042/

b. Then our next commercial treat is at Bacco on Saturday, July 28th in Mount Pleasant! This event is full already! If you would still like to go - then I would place your name on the waiting list! Things happen, somebody discovers that they can’t make it and there you are just waiting for the opportunity! You find all of the information and RSVP at http://www.meetup.com/The-Charleston-Italian-Language-Meetup/events/65379932/

c. Then we have a very special opportunity for a great diverse event in Awendaw! There will be a potential for swimming, boating, fishing, bocce and more! Wow, for me it will be like a 3 or 4 hour vacation except with the most beautiful people I know. The members of Il Tavolo Italiano! 27 people have already signed up! There is still some room left but this could be a sellout (it will be a lot of fun) so I hope you decide today to come. RSVP at http://www.meetup.com/The-Charleston-Italian-Language-Meetup/events/65559782/

d. Three more great event already on the schedule, some are filling up. You can find them at: http://iltavoloitaliano.com/GroupNews/ We will be adding the fall events soon so stay tuned!

2. Learning Italian

a. The new beginner class started a few Saturdays ago is now closed to new students. It did fill up in attendance and we actually have a great group that has come together to take this class.

b. We now have our “6 week mini courses” online and ready for registration. These classes require a little less study than our normal 12 week courses and are designed to bridge the gap between our Spring and Fall sessions of 12 courses. They are also designed to meet some additional needs like focusing on pronunciation, travel, etc. For summer time registration is going well, between the beginner class and the mini classes we will fall somewhere between 40 and 50 students of Italian in the summer. Not bad for this time of year. Thank you for making it possible. You can see them all at http://iltavoloitaliano.com/GroupNews/ at the bottom of the page. We do have enough interests to where I can say for sure that we will be teaching at both locations (Bacco and Tuscan Bistro) but there is a class at the Mt. Pleasant location that we may not teach if we don’t get any more interest. The class in danger of being canceled is “Easy Reader class - Destinazione Italia”. In the event that we don’t get enough interest we will just drop this class from the schedule. We hope that everybody that is interested in taking a class will be signed up by the end of day today as tomorrow I will be emailing instructions out the all of the students for the start of the future classes. These classes will be a great “bridge” if you will to carry you over to our more mainstream 12 week enhanced classes that start in September. Once again find all of the classes at the bottom of http://iltavoloitaliano.com/GroupNews/ I hope to see your RSVP today!

Finally don’t forget, we are looking for talented people. If you sing or play a musical instrument we would love to invite you to join us for some little impromptu jam sessions exploring in particular Italian music of all genres. You do have to be a professional or even proficient, this is about having fun but we can’t do it without adequate interest so if you are interested please email me at [address removed] Please also feel free to email me with any questions about the upcoming workshops/classes. Thank you to all of you who have emailed me already.

I would like to also thank all of you who have inquired about and are considering taking some private one on one tutoring sessions. I love you all and this group gives me hope! You can’t buy that.
Don’t forget to let us know what you think about the changes we are making to the site as we make them.

I also want to welcome all of our new members! I really hope to choose to get involved! I am looking forward to meeting many of you at the new member orientation (more info at http://www.meetup.com/The-Charleston-Italian-Language-Meetup/events/68245092/ ) Ciao.
And there a lot (A LOT) of things in the works so don’t stray far or you’ll miss out!

Ci vediamo presto! Grazie a tutti per tutto - Siete veramente belle persone!
Carlo
