What we're about

The Code Pub is a meet-up for women who want to learn more about IT and open for beginners as well as professionals. Our goal is to create a platform where one can BE INSPIRED AND INSPIRE OTHERS while BECOMING A BETTER DEVELOPER.

The Code Pub was created by Netlight in the spring of 2013 with the purpose of increasing the number of women in the IT industry. By lowering the threshold for getting started with programming and highlighting female role models within IT, we believe that we can make a difference. In order to have a bigger impact on the entire industry we work together with other cool IT companies and they will be hosting occasional The Code Pub meet-ups.

If you have any questions or suggestions on how we can improve The Code Pub - don't hesitate to drop us a line thecodepub@netlight.com

The Code Pub - challenge our drawing skills with CSS

Birger Jarlsgatan 7

You can draw simple circles, rectangles and squares easily with CSS. But how about more complex objects? Like a coffee cup or even an entire self portrait? We are happy to announce that the next Code Pub will be held at the Netlight Consulting office. Join us for an evening were we together explore all the amazing things that can be created from just a little HTML and CSS (and a lot of creativity). We will learn how to modify objects to be able to create different shapes and get the understanding of how to bring you images to life by adding some basic animations to it. This event will also be sort of a birthday celebration since The Code Pub has been active for 5 years, therefore you can expect some extra festive atmosphere. We will meet on Wednesday 23rd of January at the Netlight office, Birger Jarlsgatan 7, at 17.30 for some food and mingling. First we will listen to a talk from Netlight consultant Kajsa F. Franzén about the basics around designing in HTML and CSS and afterwards we will continue with coding and designing exercises. There will be different exercises depending on the previous experience you have which means that this is an event for the beginner as well as the experienced coder. The only thing you need to bring is your own computer with a browser. We get it - sometimes you just can’t make it, or work runs later than expected. Please do your best to *cancel your spot at least 24 hours in advance*, so one of our other awesome members can take your place! We also want to be climate-friendly and avoid food waste. If you miss three events, without cancelling, your membership may be suspended to attend future events. If you have any food preferences please email us below. RSVP by 18th of January. Hope to see you all there! The Code Pub crew [masked]
