What we're about

Do you want to become a better public speaker? Do you want to gain confidence and the courage to lead? You have come to the right place! The Contrarians Toastmasters club offers a fun and supportive environment to develop your speaking and leadership skills.

However, we are no ordinary Toastmasters club. The Contrarians motto is "No Topic is Taboo" and we encourage everyone to speak about sex, politics, religion or whatever else is on your mind. As you can see from our meeting themes, we do not shy away from 'controversial' topics.

It is free to join this Meetup group, and you are welcome to attend any of our meetings. If you decide to formally join our club, please consider making a commitment to yourself and the club to be an active club member for at least one year so that you may truly grow from the Toastmasters experience. While we have a lot of fun, we also pride ourselves on our commitment to the Toastmasters program. The fee to join both Toastmasters International and our club is only $80.60 for the initial 6 month period (OCT-MAR; APR-SEPT) as a new member and $59.00 every 6 month period after. The payback on this investment in yourself is tremendous.

We meet every Wednesday from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. We meet online via Zoom. Email us at Info@contrarians.com for the link if you would like to visit our club! There may be a few rare occasions when the time may change, so please refer to our schedule on the main meetup page for exact times of each meeting. The Contrarians is not your typical Toastmasters club. We don't shy away from 'taboo' topics like politics, sex and religion. In fact, we encourage everyone to speak their minds! We meet every week to build communication and leadership skills in the Toastmasters tradition--in our own contrarian and fun way. A Snapshot of our past meetings at 10/21: We had 14 people including 3 guest! Our club covers more countries and states, this time we had guest from Arizona, US and Canada, Vancouver. Best speaker - JP, Best evaluator - Michele, Best Table Topic - Julia, Most Improved - Ashley. Join us this week to participate in very interesting discussion about case for revolution. Our meetings are every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. We follow the traditional Toastmasters format with a different, thought-provoking theme for each meeting. We typically have 12 or more members per meeting, and guests are always welcome. Come and check us out! There is no cost to be a guest and you don't need to let us know, in advance, that you are coming. Please try to arrive by the meeting start time of 6:30 pm though. "The moment I walked into the room, I felt like I was part of something special." “You guys are pretty cool!"
