Data Science Ireland Meetup October 2019

You are invited to join us at Data Science Ireland Meetup #19 which takes place on Wednesday 2 October at Huckletree D2.

This is the best opportunity to meet & network with like-minded individuals in the Data Science and AI community in Ireland, as well as learn from more great speakers on all things AI and Data Science.

SPEAKERS

1. Carlos Alzate, Research Scientist and Manager at IBM Research.

Title: Advances in Computational Argumentation: IBM Project Debater

Project Debater is the first AI system that can debate humans on complex topics. Project Debater digests massive texts, constructs a well-structured speech on a given topic, delivers it with clarity and purpose, and rebuts its opponent. In this talk, Carlos will give you more details about the project and show how they are pushing the boundaries of AI in the broader agenda of IBM Research toward mastering the language.

2. Charles Ellis, Head of Analytics and Robotics Centre at Mediolanum.

Title: Leveraging Data Science in Asset Management

Charles is tasked with the development of data-driven insights to aid in the investment process, with a focus on machine learning and AI algorithms and techniques. This involves the build-out of a suite of data-driven signals and dashboards, as well as the creation and ongoing management and optimisation of investment strategies driven by machine learning models.

3. Alessandra Sala, Head of Analytics Research at Nokia Bell Labs

Title: Cognitive Expansion via Multiple Perspectives

Nokia Bell Labs leverage the recent progress in the area of text understanding and the latest discoveries in neuroscience and psychological sciences to deeply inter-connect intelligent systems and human cognition to embark the ultimate human cognitive revolution. Alessandra will describe how new AI models for knowledge organization and presentation can improve critical decisions making, people general knowledge and more informed business strategies.
