Additional November Philosophical Discussion

This is an additional meeting because I cannot attend the November 1st meeting. We will be meeting in the meeting room on the 2nd floor of Market of Choice at 29th and Willamette.

We have free form philosophical discussions during these meetings. I encourage people to bring a topic if they have something they wish to discuss. Our discussions generally tend toward personal discussions rather than broad analytical discussions.

Thank you all for your insightful input to the discussions. I truly enjoy them.

As someone new to the group, and IF I get to attend (currently first on the waiting list), can anyone give me an example or two of some past topics? I'm a little confused by the description about "personal discussions rather than broad analytical discussions." Thanks!

Marsha, this is a tough question. I have a hard time explaining how our discussions. What I mostly mean is that instead of broad, theoretical discussions about philosophy as an intellectual subject, including discussions of specific philosophers, we tend to talk about subjects from a personal perspective and especially from the perspective of our own bent in life. I don't keep a record of topics we've covered in the past. Sometimes we talk politics, sometimes we talk about things from books we've read, sometimes we talk really personal things about our lives and how they've affected our philosophies of life. Hope that helps a bit.
