Please, note that the time has changed from 11.00 to 11.30. This is to respect the Armistice Day minute´s silence.
PLEASE ALLOW TIME TO FIND THE CAR PARK/CHANGE INTO BOOTS ETC AS WE WILL BE LEAVING PROMPTLY AT 11.30
We´ll start from the Selborne Common Car Park just behind the Selborne Arms and signposted from the main road B3006 at 11.30. Although the car park is large, it can get very busy on Sundays and car share is recommended.
The walk goes up the Zig Zag Path to Selborne Common and then along the edge of the hanger coming down to the north end of the village, crossing some fields and farms and returning through some woodlands along the Oakhanger Stream.
After the Zig Zag Path there are no serious climbs, but the terrain is at times undulating.
It can be muddy after rain, generally on good paths, but with some grassy fields to cross. Waterproof boots recommended.
Dogs welcome, but have to be on lead at times (some farm animals and road crossings).
We´ll stop for snack about 2/3 down the way (please bring something with you) and can pop in for a drink in the pub afterwards, if there is space.
Meetup sub £2.00 to be given to Event Hosts upon arrival and will be donated by them to the Hart Wildlife Rescue Centre . Our contributions should show on their just giving page a few days after the walk https://www.justgiving.com/hartwildlife/donate
This walk will also be listed under Hampshire Walkers and Social Group - if you are a member of both groups, please only RSVP on one site.

We will meet at the CAR PARK entrance to Morrisons Supermarket, Southwood (post code GU14 0NA), and set off through Southwood Woodland which is owned by Rushmoor Borough Council who are improving the area to make it more accessible for people to use.
The site includes large areas of regenerating birch, together with mature oak field boundaries. holly and hazel are other common species. Areas of Alder Carr, grassland and heathland form localised important habitats and ground flora includes bluebells and ferns.
This woodland will lead us towards Fleet Pond. There are some benches by the pond, where we will stop for a little while - you may wish to bring a drink/snack with you. We will carry on and do a circular trail round the pond, and return through woodland back to the car park.
Dogs are welcome on this walk . All we ask is that they are friendly and well behaved. Event Hosts have the right to ask the member to leave, at any point, if they feel their dog(s) doesn't fit this criteria.
For those who wish to eat afterwards, The Crab Anchor is minutes away http://www.crabandanchor.co.uk

Andy & Al's lively vocal/trumpet/flugelhorn and tenor sax collaboration evokes the warmth and exuberance of Mardi Gras New Orleans; the heat of Chicago clubland and the excitement of small-band New York swing.
Frequent guests at European jazz festivals, they have both played with many English and American notables including Slim Gaillard; Ken Peplowski; Joe Darensbourg; Franz Jackson; Jason Marsalis; Humphrey Littleton; Terry Lightfoot; Judith Durham; Clark Tracey; Bruce Turner; Jools Holland; Duncan Lamont; David Newton; Pete King and Peter Ind.
You can expect an evening punctuated with song and off-beat observations with a typically wry presentation resulting in an entertaining programme that draws from the finest traditions in jazz.

This is an ideal evening for newcomers to the group!
The Sovereigns has a large darts area with 6 dart boards that I have reserved for our sole use. Bar area and snack food (burgers, etc) available if you are hungry.
Most of the darts got rather battered and broken last time, so I will buy some more sets and will cover it with a meetup sub of £5 please, payable on the night. This will also include a contribution to a prize for the winner.
Hope you can join me for a fun, social evening! :-)
The Haslemere Players have announced with great excitement that their October production will be the famous musical, Chess.
Written in 1984 by ABBA songwriters Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, and lyrics by Tim Rice, Chess tells a story of love and political intrigue, set against the background of the Cold War in the late 1970s/early 1980s, in which superpowers attempt to manipulate an international chess championship for political ends.
Two of the world’s greatest chess masters, one American, one Russian, are in danger of becoming the pawns of their governments as their battle for the world title gets under way. Simultaneously their lives are thrown into further confusion by a Hungarian refugee, a remarkable woman who becomes the centre of their emotional triangle. This mirrors the heightened passions of the political struggles that threaten to destroy lives and loves.
Chess includes the international hit singles ‘I Know Him So Well’ and ‘One Night In Bangkok’. Other well-known songs from the score include ‘Anthem’, ‘Someone Else’s Story’, ‘Heaven Help my Heart’ and ‘Pity The Child’.
Please book your ticket direct from the theatre https://tickets.haslemerehall.co.uk/sales/genres/theatre/chess.
