Hello, August is the month for heartwarming hotpot. The perfect winter warmer comfort food, to beat the cold and warm the tummies. :) We are going back to the King of all Chinese Hotpots in Chinatown... the restaurant is called Shan Cheng Hotpot King. I am excited to say, the hotpot drought is finally over!! You are in for a very 'TASTY' foodie adventure. The cold winter weather will leave your tastebuds craving more!!! This event is called Where in the World's Winter Warmer dinner.. Shan Cheng Hotpot style ;) The King of all Hotpots in Chinatown If BBQ King is the King of all BBQ pork... then Shan Cheng Hotpot King is the equivalent in Chinatown, to the Foodie Adventurer's 'hotpot land'... Hot Pot Street Little Dixon street is Hot Pot central in Chinatown. There are so many choices, but which one is the best?? Shan Cheng Hotpot is located in the best of both worlds. There is an entrance to the restaurant via Sussex and Dixon Street. This little gem is hidden in an arcade, which is only known by word of mouth. It's hard to find... but when you do, your tastebuds will be in Chinese Hotpot heaven! ;) The Menu The hotpot experience is DYI. ie. You cook the food yourself in a communal pot of boiling soup. It's all cooked at your table.... by YOU! I will be ordering a selection of meats, vegetables, noodles and dumplings to share. NOTE: As this is a communal cooking experience, it will not be suitable for people with dietary requirements. YOU MUST BE ABLE TO EAT ANYTHING. The Hot Pot Ordering System Despite the traditional name, Shencheng hotpot is totally digitalised. They use an IPAD ordering system. It sounds easy right???... hmmm, until you realise you need to swipe through 180+ dishes on the menu! Lucky for you, i will be ordering the food for everyone that night! No stress on your part. Just lots of comfort food eating!!! ;) How much should i budget?? Dinner is $35 per person for food. With drinks to be paid separately by the individuals. RSVP Please only RSVP if you have a genuine interest in coming along. We will be cooking from the same pot of soup using our trusty nets (to catch the food), so this is definitely a 'sharing is caring' foodie experience.
