Beach Walk

Join us in a morning walk along beautiful Huntington Beach!

Note: This walk will be canceled if it is raining at 8:30 am - 9:00 am.

http://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/7/5/5/0/event_145410032.jpeg This is a moderately-paced walk on flat paved terrain. We'll start at the paved "boardwalk" at the beach where 20th Street meets Pacific Coast Highway, and we'll head in a southerly direction toward the pier.

Passing the pier, we will continue walking along the paved path along the beach as far as Beach Blvd, where we will turn around and retrace our steps. The entire distance is about 5 miles.

Walkers should be able to keep up a conversation without getting winded while keeping a steady aerobic pace. Wear walking shoes (such as tennis shoes).

Sometimes for a change of pace, we walk out to the end of the pier and stop at Ruby's old-style 50s diner. If planning to stop for coffee, be sure to bring some money for a beverage or snack.

Well-behaved dogs on leashes are permitted on the boardwalk, and are allowed off leash on Dog Beach.

MEET-UP SITE: The walk starts at the paved beach boardwalk (that pedestrians, skaters, and bicyclists use) on the beach side near 20th Street and Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach. From PCH, just opposite of 20th Street on the ocean side, there are wide steps leading up from the street. Meet at the middle bench of the three double benches positioned at the top of the steps. Look for Devora wearing her usual baseball cap.

PARKING: There is free parking along the curb on 17th Street,18th Street, 19th Street, and 20th Street near PCH. On alternate Monday mornings, parking is restricted on the south sides of the streets (north sides are OK), so pay attention to the posted signs so that you don't receive a $44 parking citation. There are also coin-metered parking spots on PCH. Remember to bring quarters!

Please arrive 10 minutes early. The walk will start promptly at 9 AM.
