What we're about

Atheists, Agnostics and Free-Thinkers in the Triad (Actual group name to be decided)

We are a community. We welcome you. We are as inclusive as can be. In the interest of making the world a better and more accepting place, we have and will continue to organize volunteer events like adopt-a-highway and bag donations for Interactive Resource Center.

There are Secular Sundays where we come together to discuss and share everything from contemporary politics, to deconversion stories, to our triumphs and failures - as a community. We have Drinking Skeptically nights at local bars, festivals, and people's houses. Join us for movie nights, baseball games, potlucks, and any other memory-making get-togethers.

A lot of us have lost communication with family members and friends because we thought differently about the existential questions of life. A lot of us haven't been able to find a place that welcomes people who don't want to be a part of a bronze age way of thinking. A lot of us get tired of hearing the question, "So, where do you go to church?" A lot of us are transplants, new to the area, and are looking for a community. There are Secularists, Humanists, Unitarians, Atheists, Agnostics, and even a religious person or two who have their own reasons for coming - ask them.

Atheists are, according to certain studies, the least trusted minority - https://www.patheos.com/blogs/danthropology... (https://www.patheos.com/blogs/danthropology/2016/09/study-atheists-remain-the-most-disliked-religious-minority-in-the-u-s/)

We would like to change that.

We are a community of individuals. And, we are here for you, if you would like.

This is early notice for our next movie night. As always for a movie night, there is a cap of 14 guests, but there will be a waiting list. It will be potluck and BYOBeverage, as usual. We will figure out what video later - if you have any suggestions please let Joe or me know!

Secular Sunday!

Earth Fare

On Secular Sunday, we meet as a group of semi-liked minded atheists, agnostics, and free-thinkers to discuss our triumphs, challenges, and important questions. There are philosophical discussions, jokes, commiseration, and most of all a pretty big circle of acceptance and community. (With limits, I mean, don't tell us that we're all going to Hell and expect everyone to love you - unless you can confirm that it's a nice place.) Sometimes we talk about topics - recurring ones include: freewill, how we, as nonbelievers, interface with believers, the sharing of deconversion stories, and deity-free morality. We meet at Earth Fare on Battleground Avenue, every Sunday from 11 am till usually around 12:30 - people often go out for lunch afterwards at local establishments. We hope to see you there!
