French Film "Farewell My Queen" & Reception in Clear Lake (English Speaking OK)

Join Houston French Meetup, Houston Film & Theater Snobs, NASA French Meetup, and Houston & Clear Lake (Double the Fun) Meetup at the opening night of UHCL's 4th annual Tournees French film festival!

After the movie, there will be a reception. Yes, there will be food and drinks!

There will be a mini French lesson before the film.

Time: meet at 6:45PM for 7PM showtime.

Where to meet:
Screening is in the Student Services Building, in the Lecture Hall. This is a new-looking glass building that has a fountain in front of it. See the MAPS below.
Look for Amanda in front of the ticket table wearing a light pink cap and holding a meetup sign. My cell # is 832-405-9160. I will stand there from 6:45 to 6:50, then I will go in to get my seat.

About the film:
FAREWELL, MY QUEEN

Director Benoît Jacquot adapted Chantal Thomas' bestselling novel examining the genesis of the French Revolution as witnessed from the perspective of the servants closest to Marie Antoinette. July 1789: Versailles. As the people of France rise up against King Louie XVI (Xavier Beauvois), the frightened sovereigns begin plotting their escape. Sidonie Laborde (Léa Seydoux) is the Queen's reader, and as such enjoys the many lavish privileges of being in the monarch's entourage. She sees herself as an extended member of the royal family, so when Marie Antoinette (Diane Kruger) requests that Sidonie don the Queen's clothing and flee in her carriage, the naïve servant views it as a tremendous honor. Meanwhile, the Queen herself plots to escape the palace under the cover of darkness, leaving her most loyal servant at the mercy of the raging mob.

Parking: I recommend parking in the LARGE parking lot in front of the building. There is also a smaller lot in the back.
