We are a single deck pinochle club and play every other Tuesday evening at the Glendale O'Charley's. We welcome new players and will coach you to get started or reacquainted with the game. After you enter the restaurant, turn to the right and go to the room on the south end of the building.
Many people in the Midwest play euchre but not necessarily pinochle. Pinochle offers a bit more challenge than euchre but most people pick it up quickly. One thing that makes it unique is that the high bidder and his/her partner exchange 3 cards. There are some different strategies for doing that and it's a favorite part of the game for many players.
Regarding dinner: some of our members arrive about an hour early and eat before we play, some eat during play, and some have eaten before they arrive.
We do ask that each attendee toss a dollar into the hat - yes, we literally have a hat! - for meetup.com dues and card replacements.
Lastly, please be gracious - and if you're able, generous - to the servers and to the management. If they charged us rent we would need to ask for $10.00 from each attendee rather than $1.00.
